  • Overview


    The Finish Trainer is an intermediate level position.  Under collaborative guidance from Lab Management and minimal supervision where operations and sequences are specified by written and verbal instructions and established practices, the QC-Technician /Certified Finish Trainer develops, prepares, executes, monitors and modifies training activities.



    • Establish and communicate training goals to leadership and associates
    • Collaborate with Lab Management on training schedule.
    • Publish and Communicate training schedule including expectations
    • Facilitate training sessions to include:
      • Classroom – Work Instructions / Hands On when applicable
      • Shop Floor – Demonstration / Hands On
    • Responsible for Buddy Program administration
    • Using reports, monitor effectiveness of training for associates
    • Conduct written exams post-training to understand retention (Final Inspection Certification Program)
    • Benchmark results against like facilities in the network
    • Adjust training to leverage learning patterns relative to achieving goals
    • Conduct associates’ skill level assessment
    • Maintain training records for associates
    • Conduct the skills’ certification process
    • Review / plan future training based upon need



    • HS Diploma or equivalent required, AS or BS preferred
    • 3-5 years optical industry experience
    • Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office productivity tools, primarily Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
    • Must be highly organized and be a self- starter.
    • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong organizational and communication skills a must
    • Strong analytical skills a must
    • Requires flexibility to perform a variety of tasks as required
    • Requires effective problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task production environment. Have the ability to focus for long periods of time
    • Have an eye for attention to detail and symmetry
    • Have solid dexterity and mechanical skills
    • Patience to fully see the task through is a must
    • Honest, dependable and be able to follow directions either written or verbal
    • Ability to communicate with other associates in a clear, concise manner
    • Professional demeanor
    • Be perceived as a role model



    May have exposure to noise and flammable solvents. Must wear applicable protective safety equipment.  Some overtime may be required. Works on assignments that are routine and semi-routine but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from standard procedures and processes.  



    Computer and Microsoft office products will be used to develop and modify documents.  May use one or more of the following machines:  Taping Machine, Blocker, Generator, Finer & Polisher, Wash line, Backside Coating Machine, AR Coating Machine, Lensometer, Finish Blocker, Edger, Hand Etchers, Groover, Drill, Hand Tools, and other machines as determined by management.


    Safety equipment and other basic office equipment such as telephone, computer, printers, facsimile, and copier, and may be assigned as determined by management.
